Even in this age of digital wonder, nothing beats the feel and look of a good ole fashioned business card. It’s a special connection you make with your customer/client. It’s even, may I dare say, a personal introduction to your business. However, when designing your business card, what do you need to have to make sure it’s a great business card design?
First off, your new card should be simple and yet creative at the same time. The right design will be distinctive enough to begin a conversation with a potential customer or client. A clean, easily readable design is best. The best eye-catching artwork won’t help you if your potential client can’t identify your business within the first ten seconds of looking at your card.
Also, make sure that card designs or images used are hi-resolution and do not appear “hazy” or pixelated. You don’t want either yourself or your business to seem amateur. It’s also best that when using images, to stick with one’s that are related to your field or industry. Don’t use photos of your baby or pets. Again, your card is meant to be your professional introduction to a potential customer. You can never get back a first impression.
Finally, I always take into account a customer’s “color palatte” when designing cards. It lends to establishing a brand identity for a customer’s business. If you don’t have a palate already, choose a favorite color or colors. Also, avoid harsh color schemes. You don’t want to hurt your potential client’s eyes when they see your card!
